£40K to save/invest, any suggestions? help needed!

Hi All

I have around £40K that i want to put away, i know nothing about ISA's apart from i) you can only deposit x amount in any account per year and ii) you can only have one

I would like to start an ISA but could you also suggest what to do with the other cash, i will want access to it over the next couple of years.

Thanks

    Keogh,
As you want access to funds it looks like your best served with savings A/C's.
Instant access are paying about 3%, bonds up to 1 year are paying around 4% fixed.
As good rates keep popping up now and again I wouldn't go longer than 1 year.
With unemployment rising, and GDP falling equity based products are a no-no as far as I'm concerned.

Take the long shot, buy some Premium Bonds, 0% to 1 million.

    Best of fortune.
