I have MS. I was medically retired from work on 30th April. I am currently claiming ESA on the contribution level. Filled in the medical form with the MS Wefare officer. Took us two days:eek: I attached the report from my neurologist and the Occ Healths doctor making me retired. Today I got a letter saying I have to see the DWP's doctor. Has anybody had one of these? What do they entail? I can't go on my own, as if I have to wlak far I have to use a wheelchair, so the welfare officer is coming too. Just wondered how lng these things take, and what is involved

The ESA medicals are done by a company called "ATOS" on behalf of the DWP.usually by retired GPs using a computer generated questionaire, they take on average about 30 minutes. If you have any special needs e.g. access problems let them know before attending0

Your medical retirement has no standing with ESA which is about what you can do and not what cant as in IB, nor does any diagnosis other than being expected to die within 6 months.
You should be ok since you have MS which the government dont place into catagories like other conditions and if you fail you have help and support with your welfare officer.
Good luck with medical and ATM other posters are still waiting 14 weeks after there medicals.0
