I had a 2001 audi a3 quattro. Its easily the best car that I've ever had and if I wasn't moving abroad there would be no way I would have sold it.0

i had the A3 3.2ltr hatchback fantastic car, loves petrol though on short trips i only got between 15 and 18 mpg so costs alot to run other than that is was brilliant fast as hell nice driving position really good car was sick as hell to let it go0

Thanks.
We are looking at getting the diesel. Our current car does about 40 mpg (2 litre diesel turbo) do you know what the Audi runs like on a diesel?0 -
if it were a 2ltr then it would be around the same as your current car0

Thanks.

There seems to be something wrong with your car.
The Mk IV GT TDi is the 130 bhp 1.9 model.
I had the GTi 150 bhp 1.9 diesel (a 53 plate Mk IV). Try as I might I couldn't persuade it to do less than 55mpg.0 -

Whilst that link is interesting it seems a little out of date. It doesn't even list the Mazda 2,3 5,6 or RX8 and the newest Audi is an 04. Whilst a historic indicator of quality, it would be nice to see something a little more recent than 5 years old, as quality can change quite significantly in new revisions.
Still, glad it shows Mazda as number 3, lets hope it stayed that way until they built mine0 -
05 A3's are nice. Bit noisey on the road compared to similar stuff like the 1 Series. However, the BMW isn't nice to drive.
We sell 2005 onward A3's from 7995 upto 11995 and we never have them in long. Sport and S-Line ones are loads more money over the SE's but well worth having. 2.0TDi's will do close to 60mpg. Quattro TDi probably mid 40's.
1.6 and 2.0 petrols will do late 30's early 40's too!0 -

On a long long journey I might get to 50 but usually its only about 40. Do you honestly think something could be wrong, and if so what??0 -
a 1.9l tdi 130 should average around 47 with a mix of motorway and normal roads.
a 2l tdi getting 40 sounds ok, do you have a heavy right foot?0
