Look in your Yellow Pages or yell.com for Camera shops in your area that deal in second-hand; you might not get as much from them as you would on eBay or privately as they want to make some profit when they sell, but at least you'll know it'll go to a keen photographer when the camera shop moves it on....

There's a chain of shops called the London Camera Exchange which may be worth checking out?

Try digirecycle.com, take all small small consumer electrical goods. They pay more than Simplydrop from my experience.

it depends entirely on the camera, I have sold 2 old ones this year (both film cameras) and made good money on them, however this was on ebay, which is the best bet as camera shops are overloaded with old stock and will only take rare/collectable/mint condition camera these days.

  • It depends entirely on the make and model. If their Nikon or Canon then they'll fetch more than some smaller manufacturers.
Try to find a friend with an ebay account as they'll sell for more on there. if you take them to a dealer you'll get less as they have to make a profit when they sell them on. Many dealers won't even take old cameras as they have trouble shifting them.

Best bet is type the make and model into ebay and see what others are going for.
