Grounds for appeal?

Yesterday, I moved out of my house that I was renting in Leeds. I do not drive and asked for someone to hire a van to help me move back home to Liverpool. When I was upstairs packing up my remaining possessions that had not been packed already, I returned to find that a parking ticket had been placed on the van with the following message: 'CODE 12 Parking in a Resident bay of Space without displaying permit'. I couldn't have been gone for more than 30 minutes and was wondering if I have it's likely to be successfully appealled, as I was just loading the van up, admittedly with the doors locked while I sorted some of the packing.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm not in the position to pay as it's for £70 which is more than it took to hire the van and pay for the fuel!
