how do i increase my good credit history?

Hi,
I am currently saving to go travelling and realise that i will need to fund the rest of my trip with a loan. I currently have no credit history good or bad and want to increase my good credit history so i will be able to borrow more when the time comes. I have been to university and am currently working full time as a nurse. I have no debt from uni other than a very small student overdraft. I have a mobile phone that is always paid on time, and the rent i pay is to a private landlord.

With travelling in mind, does anybody know the best credit card to get so that i can use it to pay it off immediately to increse my credit? Or is there another way all together?

Thanks very much

Virtually any credit card used regularly and paid on time will increase your credit rating.
As you have no current card it's probably best to ask your bank as they will know how you look after your account with them.
Otherwise, try for a 'beginners cards' barclaycard initial, vanquis, cap 1 ... all charge outrageous APR but as you will pay in full each month it won't matter.

For travelling consider opening a Nationwide flexaccount (i.e. their bank account) as they charge low foreign currrency surcharge on cash withdrawals or spending on their debit card. Similarly, their credit card is much cheaper to use than most.

Getting a loan to travel sounds a really bad idea, however I don't know the full details but presumably you have considered how you will repay the loan and make payments while travelling.
