change of interest of CC

Hi all

Just wondering if you guys can just give me a little advise pls. I have an MBNA CC which I've had for a number of years. I'm currently bashing out paying this one out, I have transfered as much as I can to another card (I cant appear to get another one) . My question is can I ask them to change my interest rate as compared to my other card it soooo high.

I want to pay it off and make over payments etc but the rate just makes me feel like I'll never pay this one off.

Many thanks

Won't do any harm to ask.

If you've moved a substantial part of your balance to another card, have you requested that MBNA reduce your credit limit? This would reduce the amount of "available credit" that may help you applying for other cards to move the rest of the MBNA balance?

There's another trick where you can apply for another MBNA card, say the Virgin Money card, the initial credit limit they offer you doesn't matter. When you phone to activate the card, you ask them to move an amount of your credit limit across from one card to another. You can then transfer up to 95% of this new credit limit directly to your current account, incur the 4% fee, then use the money to clear the rest of the MBNA balance. They won't let you transfer a balance from one MBNA card to another, but there is a way around it.
