New BT line

HI. I am hoping to get a BT landline to reduce my bills, as I am currently with NTL. The house does not have a BT landline. Do you know if there is any way of having one fitted without the £99.99 charge?

.... if the house has never had a BT line in the past.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

The cost is £99 (it used to be £75) for anyone who has never had BT before (ie needing a brand new line installed) and is payable quarterly at a rate of £22.49 but this method includes a £12 odd 'administration' fee taking it to £112.45.

If the house has had a BT line before then (ie previous occupier) then it is free reconnection.

    See here for more info.
