Free Mouse Mat wanted - any ideas?

Hi there
I need a new mouse mat and before I went and bought one I thought that someone might have any ideas on getting a free one? I've done a google search but it doesn't bring up much.
Has anyone ever got a free mouse mat or does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for any help
Alysie

    Hi,

I used to use a website called https://www.freeukstuff.co.uk that always had free mousemats, albeit logoed ones. Failing that, I have a stack of them here - Just let me know your address and I will post!

    " Mousepad with transparent cover

ICL Mousepad. Thanks to the transparent cover, you can insert templates with useful phrases to use on the telephone.
Does panic set in when you have to speak on the telephone? Do you worry about how to speak to the person on the other end? Do you want to book a flight? A hotel room? Arrange an appointment?
The ICL Mousepad is what you need.
And, best of all, it’s absolutely free!

This was on another thread, posted recently by green pixey. I've sent for one, have yet to receive.

I know the OP was trying to source a free mouse mat, but I thought I'd post and let you all know that I too wanted a free mouse mat some time ago (still waiting!), but ended up purchasing 1 from the Tesco value range for about 50p! (Sorry, cant find the receipt, but Definitely definitely no where near even 70p). Standard basic regular mouse mat for way less than £1. This will probably only be found in the larger Tesco Extra stores, but at least this way the OP could buy the mouse mat today rather than waiting for one of the freebie companies to actually get around to mailing it out. I've never used a mousemat either, I just have the mouse on the desk. Is there any reason why I should use one though? I've occasionally wondered.

Yeh if you have glass on your table n an optical mouse like myself. The mouse just jumps about the screen without one because the glass reflects the optical beam :)

If you're still using a mouse with a ball, then it picks up dirt that will eventually clog up the rollers. A mousemat tends to be cleaner, so will last longer between cleans. It also allows for a smoother 'glide', because there will be no dents or scratches for the ball to run over, and due to the type of material used, the ball will always grip the mat and not slip. In truth though, unless you have a very dirty/bumpy/slippy workspace, they are not really needed.

If you are using a castrated mouse (optical mouse) then like Neato says, they tend not to work on reflective surfaces. Or, if you are after the best possible response/accuracy from your optical mouse (for games, etc.), then you should get a mousemat especially designed for them. These usually have a grid or a pattern of dots in them that allow the mouse to work at it's optimum performance. But again, for every day use, unless you have a reflective/irregular surface, you don't really need one.

Looks like you have to pay for the mouse mat from hotline group if you decide to keep the sample
