driving laws: learner driver

in the uk in order to drive a car you need to be 17, get a provisional licence and put learner on the car and i believe in you can drive on private land to learn in the meantime? just need confirmation

Learner drivers must be supervised. To supervise a learner driver you must be at least 21 years old and have held a full EC licence for the appropriate category of vehicle for at least 3 years. Anyone who does not comply with these requirements could be liable to a maximum fine of £1,000, discretionary disqualification or 3-6 penalty points (as could the learner driver).

Yeah in the meantime you can drive on private land though!

But supermarket car park doesn't necessarily equal private land if that's what you're thinking! You might get away with it, but if the Police see you 'chavving about' then they will try to argue that since the land has public access, it is considered a part of the Public Highway under the Road Traffic Act.

Driving around on your own land - farm, field, etc. would be no problem though.
