Replacement Ipod Touch Advice Please!

Hi,

I've just taken delivery of a new Ipod touch as a replacement for one that broke.

I've been charging it and am now ready to connect it to Itunes. Do I just connect it to my existing Itunes that I used with the old Ipod, or do I need to do something else?

I want it to have all my old music on it but I'm not sure if that it's only allowed on one ipod!

I've tried looking on the apple site and can't see any link to having a new/replacement ipod.

I'm not very techie, hence I'm asking advice before I take action!

Thanks for reading (and hopefully helping)

Do you still have the original music on your computer?

Yes my itunes library is exactly the same as when I last sync'ed it to the old dead (rather I should say drowned) ipod a couple of weeks ago.

Just un-sync the iPod, and manually drag the whole lot onto your new iPod.

Thanks, I was hoping it was going to be simple.

I've had real problems over the past few weeks with ipod and itunes and I was dreading another headache. Main headache came when I discovered my old ipod in the bath with my 2 year old (20 minutes after she got out!)

Yeah it's quite easy when you get your head around it. I never keep my iPod sycn'd as i find it much easier to edit, delete and add new music manually, rather than have it scan my whole pc for everything and add it all.

I know how you feel, i dropped my first iPod down the stairs.

If you don't want to manually manage music, you can just sync the new ipod to your itunes. When you plug it in, itunes will recognise it is a new device and ask you to give it a name. You can then do what you like with it in itunes. We have a Touch, an old Nano and 2 shuffles all linked to the same itunes for the various family members.
