A not taking the micky thread....

Havent been anywhere near the TV on net to day to see the news but just noticed the markets took a hammering today.

Can anyone please tell me why?

Surely Setanta was good news... Apart from to Setanta, BT, anyone that bought a box & the staff of course...

There isn't any rhyme or reason to it, 1984. It's just random profit taking.

The world bank let out a report that wasn't as rosy as some would like, seems people have been taking too much notice of green shoots, and this report goes against that in the main, with a more conservative view on the economy....mainly that its in no way over.

Also, oil is now falling, as well as other commodities that have been pushed up by speculators.

Oh yes. All hail the MSE market expert. Could it be this, he asked in an all knowing confident sort of way.

Link is some report on emerging markets not being so good.

And they are where a lot of the money has been going as appetite for risk was rediscovered after the lows a few months ago.

I know I'm going to get shot down in flames. But at least until I press send I can enjoy the moment.

In a way low oil prices are a good thing. Have to be thankful that their is no bad news of the type when we had banks on the brink of collapse, but if stocks fall on relatively minor bad news what will happen if the sh*t really hits the fan and gov'ts default on their debts - or are the markets preparing themselves for this.

What has suddenly happened in West Bromich? Car industry suffering but has been going on for some time, what is worse about this past week than before?

    1984,
If you had bothered to listen to the guru on the TV you would have the answer you seek.

If you spent all your day at work, working, instead of skiving then you would have known what the guru on the net was saying as well.

No time for people like you.
