If I am paying into an IPO or avoidable tax etc.. than this is money that I am not giving to my family who need it

Everyone seems to have a real downer on this Stintond guy. I can't see why.

Surely the whole point of bankruptcy is that it is a legal mechanism whereby an insolvent person can get protection from their creditors and have their debts written off, thus giving them a fresh start. I can't for the life of me see why Stintond's questions are counter to the letter or to the spirit of the laws of bankruptcy.

When I went bankrupt several years ago I made sure that all my outstanding debts, including council tax, were included in the bankruptcy. I also manipulated my income and outgoings a little so that my monthly excess on my statement of affairs was less than £100, thus ensuring that I avoided an IPA/O.

I'm afraid I see these steps as simple common sense

Funny how every time you bother to post on here walter you choose the most controversial threads, and your view changes with every post to what is right and wrong, or should that be the view that causes the most problems:rolleyes:

One post says its ok to screw the sytem the next has a go at a poster for doing so:confused:

    Make your mind up:rolleyes:

This is the kind of comment that gets us bankrupts a bad name!
Millions of people manage perfectly well in such cars. You sound as if you think you are too good for that.

You're going bust, for God's sake! Of course you are going to have to drive an old banger for a few years. The chances of being able to keep the second car are nil.

    A bit of advice;

The way to get through the bankruptcy experience is to forget entirely the materialistic lifestyle that got you into the mess. Relish the liberating feeling of being debt-free and learn to enjoy the simple and cheaper things in life.

That includes a 'few hundred pound run around'

Within a few months the idea of spending hundreds of pounds a month on a car will be plain to you as the sheer madness that it is. .

On the face of it bankruptcy would look by far the better option.

An IVA will involve you paying several hundred pounds a month for 5 years.

Bankruptcy will involve you paying absolutely nothing if you play your cards right. You need to get your monthly surplus below £100 per month to avoid being saddled with an income payments order which lasts for three years. This can be as simple as engineering a rent rise with your landlord for a few months, or a temporary pay cut at work. .

   ..................

I have only just read these posts and find it quite depressing to think that some people are just born skivers-working out any way they can to "beat the system".

When I know that so many people, myself inlcluded have agonised over BR you make it seem so flippant and normalize it when you are the minority representing Bankrupts

Oh, sorry to be fired up, but the bile is rising- try working f/t with 4 kids on 2 x rubbish salaries and still being skint even when no debts and read that type of garbage about dodging IPAS
