Been rang EIGHT times in one day by British Gas
Serious harrasment or what?
I owe them £37 which is only a week overdue. Today I have had 8 calls from them on my landline and mobile which is a robot voice which I HAVE NO INTEREST in dealing with - and to ring me 8 times surely is illegal.
Their appalling service of 1. not doing meter readings, 2.hugely underestimating my gas payments by some £25 per month and then blaming me for it!
3. Stating they never received my gas readings but only my electric (all on their dumb automated service)
4. Debiting £225 from my bank account without notice (after terminating their services) for gas which was how much they had underestimated. The electric was also underestimated and I cancelled the direct debit before they had chance to take the money.. this time it's on my terms.
I rang them tonight and spoke to someone in India and he said would you like me to stop the calls - I said yes but then he said "We can only do that if you pay" - well forgive me British Gas but I am seriously angry and the more you pester me the less likely I am to want to pay it. How dare you intimidate people in this way and blame them for your own shortcomings.
Phew.... had to get that off my chest!!
Yours angrilly. Sam:mad:

You think thats bad? Just wait till they sell the debt to a DCA0

it won't get that far.. but surely 8 times in one day is illegal? !!0

I think the most should be 5 times, but not sure if the fact it's robotic makes a difference - you'll need to look at OFcom's regulations on this.0

Pay ya bills. Then the voices robotic or otherwise will go away.
You are in breach of contract for not paying ya bills.
You and your antics are just driving up the costs for everyone else.0 -
...I rang them tonight and spoke to someone in India and he said would you like me to stop the calls - I said yes but then he said "We can only do that if you pay" ...
As Viper_7 says, why dont you just pay then the £37 you owe them?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Know how you feel. I had similar problem. Was paying set amount by Standing Order, then received several of these calls. Called them back and was told I had to pay them an extortionate amount of money immediately or face disconnection. I asked why, since I had entered into a monthly payment plan and was paying EVERY month. Turns out that, because my S/O reached them 1 day late because of it being due on a weekend, THEY Cancelled my Plan (they allegedly told me in writing a week before the calls started, but I have still never received their letter) AND they wanted to increase my Standing Order (again no notification). I asked for a number for the Complaints Department and was told there was not one?! (that gem was from the Call Centre Supervisor). I found a number for British Gas Complaints, who apologised, re-set my payment plan and then "pushed" a button stopping all calls from India to my number.
BTW, incase anyone (Viper_7) feels like abusing me like they have done to this user - I am actually in Credit with BG. And even if I was not, does not give them the right to harrass people in this manner.0 -
Why complain? They provide a service that you need: if you don't like it, try living in a country where there are frequent and extended power cuts. And if you think they make excessive profits, well, you can always buy shares in BG.0
