help with Bradford & Bingley ppi claim please

Options
Hi
I need advice as to whether I can claim the PPI that we have paid to bradford and bingley for 18 years. My husband was self employed when we took out the mortgage and over the years there have been the odd times where there has been no work for him. When ever we have tried to put a claim in we have had no joy due to the fact that he was self employed. We thought at the time we were paying for nothing but kept in on in case I was ever out of work as it covers both of us. My husband and I are now separated but he has been out of work now for about 6 months due to illness and is currently in hospital so I am paying the mortgage on my own till the house can be sold. Does anybody out there think that this is a mis- sell or have we just been unlucky.
Also as the B&B have been wound up who would I make a claim to if I could.
Thanks for reading

What was in the terms and conditions for self employment? Did it actually state it did not cover it?

Are you quite sure the policy covers both of you?

You can always try and make a complaint about it for misselling as it was worthless to your husband as he thought it covered him. It is a long time ago though but like i say always worth a shot. If they do not uphold this also you have a problem as B and B are no longer as you say and i doubt you would be able to go to the Ombudsman but someone else may be along to confirm. You are always free to use the courts though if you only just became aware and you have a strong enough case.

Another thing is that you would have to get your husband to sign any letters etc too as this was joint.

sorry Gardener1 I think you must have misundestood the question. I was looking for constructive advice from the good people on this forum not a reprimand.
20 years ago I was a lot more naive than I am now and assuumed that the people selling the mortgages knew a lot more than me about it. I trusted them!!

Self employment is not a refusal. They do cover the self employed. They do not cover periods of inactivity. You have to formally cease trading and sign on for benefits.

Nothing you have said suggests a mis-sale.

Its not single premium, its not added to the mortgage and its the normal MPPI retail product which is quite correct to be recommended to people who dont have income protection.

And they seem to have done their job fine.
