hi quick question. very long story short..
if your overdrawn at the bank and your housing benefit goes in can you go to the bank as ask for it. or can they keep it all?
tenants money goes in this month and she overdrawn more than the housing benefit. we expected (me )the landlord get it tho this month into my account and that isnt the case.

The bank have a right to keep it if you've exceeded your overdraft or overdrawn without authority.
The bank will not be bothered with the fact that it's money for rent.0 -
Benefits - you have the legal right of Appropriation - this is the legal term for it - YOU MUST TELL THE BANK IN ADVANCE - how much the benefit is and what you wanted it used for and the bank has to agree - BUT - most banks will only let you do this once (it will be noted on your account files) thereafter they will CLOSE your account.0

the housing benefit can be paid directly into the landlords account bypassing the tenants account
