Avoid Proactol

Just wanted to give a warning about Proactol - here is my dispute with them to try to get my money back:
I ordered this and have complained via email but have not received a reply from you. I am so disappointed with the product - I used it religiously for two weeks exactly as directed. All that happened was that my stomach became very swollen and I actually put on 6lbs. I am not hugely overweight and wanted to use it for 2 months to drop a stone, everything I read sounded hugely positive about the product. It just bunged me up for badly that 2 days after stopping taking it, I had diorreah constantly for the next 4 days, it felt like everything I'd eaten over the past 2 weeks was flooding out of me. I would like to return the product for a refund as it may be good for some people but it was disastrous for me - I am worried it may have caused me some long-term damage.
Proactol refused your request for a $106.00 USD refund.

All that means is that they don't know of any, not that there are none..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Could it be that you are allergic to one of the other ingredients in the medication? I don't know anything about Proactol, or if it is safe, but some medicines include ingredients that a small proportion of people are allergic to - cinnamon for instance, which is sometimes in liquid medicines... My daughter and I are both allergic to gel toothpastes (as opposed to the opaque white stuff) and have never discovered why, and were told they were perfectly safe.
Maybe you have a medical problem that you are not aware of, but has been exacerbated by the pills? It might be sensible to visit your doctor and explain what has happened, just to be on the safe side.0 -
Thanks for that - I was a bit worried so will definitely do that, thanks for the feedback BD xx0

if you paid by cc...go for a chargeback [time-limited] or a section 75 refund0

I paid by paypal and have opened a dispute so am in correspondence with them but they keep churning out the same old it was on our website terms and conditions rubbish - I have a full unopened box which they could re-sell if I returned it so I don't understand why they won't at least give me my money back for that.
Terrible customer services and has put me off ever doing anything like this again - I have joined weight watchers where I will be losing weight safely and healthily.

If you're concerned about it have harmed you, the first thing to do should be to see your doctor (or walk-in centre, or similar).
Contact trading standards - you might question whether the descriptions of the product are accurate. I'd want to know what trials have been done and replicated to make this 'clinically proven', and whether they have been recording reports of adverse effects etc. (in order to back up the claim of 'no side effects').
Diarrhoea is a known side effect of some products that aim to make your body excrete fat undigested (we're not designed to pass undigested fat ). Don't know if this is the case with Proactol, though.0
