The general terms and conditions, under "ISA regulations", state you can transfer out at any time.

Withdrawals (and transfers?) require 90 days notice. It doesn't say there will be a interest penalty but beware if you were to sit on it for a year and then lose 90 days the effective rate after tax drops to 3.00% so you should check before applying.

If over 50 and not able to put in the extra £1500 when the time comes will the rules let you put the money in a different ISA. Normally I know you can only have one account per year.
  • hi folks, totally new to this site. I've had a look at newcastle website this morning & can't find any mention of this account & phone service only available mon - fri. Is the transfer form available on the site?

    Here's a link to it:

    http://www.newcastle.co.uk/savings/5yearfixedrateisa

and a link to the Transfer Form:

Though you will need to open the account before you initiate the transfer.

The ISA has now been withdrawn for new applications

From the Newcastle BS website: -

"The 5 Year, 5%, Fixed Rate ISA and Bond (Issue 1) have been withdrawn and are no longer available for further applications.

All Online Applications submitted, will be honoured. Any Postal Applications and cheque investments must be received by close of business Friday 24th July. All ISA Transfer applications where funds are being transferred from other providers to the Newcastle will be accepted. Your current ISA provider does have 30 days from request to action this. Unfortunately no allowances can be made for interruptions in the Postal Service due to Industrial Action."
