Hi there
I was wondering if I am able to claim any benefits now that I have finished uni before I find a job. I have had to leave my job because I have gone home after uni so can I claim anything?
Thanks for the help

Futureproof; It depends on the official end of course date rather than whether you've finished exams/classes.
Teagan; Your son is NOT eligible to claim JSA for the holidays between years, only at the end of the whole course!0 -
You cannot claim JSA on summer break when you are returning in the autumn, however you can once you leave university.
I'm not sure whether you can claim from the last day of term or graduation - someone will be able to clarify shortly.
Edit: Everyone keeps beating me today, must turn the lights on!Gone ... or have I?0 -

He cannot, unless he is disabled or a single parent?
When you initially call, all the advisor will do is take their application details. They do not decide on eligibility.Gone ... or have I?0 -

If he's said something like "I've just finished university" then they'll assume he's finished the whole course, not just the first year. I imagine that's where the misunderstanding's arisen.0
