Is the leak coming out of the tap spindle or out of the joint with the pipe?
If out of the spindle try tightening the packing nut. The packing acts as a seal around the spindle.
If out of the joint with the pipe try tightening the compression nut, assuming it's the compression type.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -

Not sure if this will help or not in your case- repacking a stop !!!! gland0

Steel tube can be frozen but requires either a Co2 or electric freezing kit
Cant the supply be isolated from the toby?
If the gland is damaged then it will need replacedHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Replace the stopcock. You can't fix this with putty or something.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0

hi there should be a stopcock out side to turn off the whole water to ur property if you cant pack the gland out with ptfe get a new stop tap and split the body of it this is the nut just a bit below the leaking gland on ur stoptap then split the other one this means you will not have to change any of the pipework above or below the tap so then you just screw the new head in you can buy stop taps at bnq or local plumbing merchents the only thing with just changing the head of it is if it is really old like you say it might be a metric size(MOH) not imperial you will know this if it dosent screw in if this happens you will have to get ur stop tap from bss which is a sister company to pts plumbing merchents sorry about the lingo hope this helps0
