Insurance co's extracting the water

Had renewal quote from existing ins co - £780

went on ins comparison website [as per MSE advice from wor Martin] - 2nd lowest quote was from EXISTING ins co - £480

RANG UP, AND THEY 'PRICE-MATCHED' THEIR OWN WEBSITE

so very, very annoying!!!!!!!!!

    Very standard. Most insurers give huge discounts in the first year or may even sell you the policy at a loss. They rely on people who don't shop around at renewal to subsidise those who do.

    It is also common that a company will match its own website, as it is cheaper to retain an existing customer with one phone call than to advertise for new ones.
