Is it OK to give my ex my bank account details?

There *is* a possibility of fraud giving people your sort code and account number.
There was a thing I read a few months back about a web service that was taking some stick because it allows you to register your account with them and then get them to print pre-authorised (no signature required) cheques made out from your account. Jeremy Clarkson also posted his bank details in his newspaper column a while back and was subject to Direct Debit fraud (£500 to charity I believe).
Both of these are unlikely, I doubt your ex would risk doing anything like this, I'd be more concerned about coming out of the CSA - are there any penalties/risks with going back to them later?0 -
Hi
Thank you for all your replies:A
I will enquire about opening another account with a transfer into my current account. He has lied and lied about his salary and place of work - it is too long to go into here. He has been investigated but the paper trail backs his 'story'. A man opening up a place of work, staying there all day, then locking up at the end of it, doing physical work there, with statements to say this man is their boss - yet he is able to say that he 'visits' this place out of the goodness of his heart and works for about half the naional minimum wage:rotfl: (cash in hand).
If he is willing to pay any amount (albeit not the correct amount) then I need to take it because I have two mouths to feed. Something significant has happened in his life recently and he contacted me about paying for his children - maybe it made him think???? I don't know, maybe he showed just a tiny part of the man he used to be. Thank you for all your help with this matter.
Kindest regards to all of you

Can he not write a cheque out to you each month?0

Everytime you give someone a cheque they have your account details. The sort code and account number are clearly printed in full on every cheque. People use cheques all the time and I am not aware of any suggestion that doing so increses your risk of fraud so giving someone your bank details is no different.MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0

Well spotted, I thought it was just me that could see the obvious.

Exactly - but it is the NRP's bank details!
Exactly sensemaya;)! I can see his details but don't want him to see mine;). I know i'm an honest person - I know he isnt:rolleyes: I wouldn't give me details to just anybody and I don't use my cheque book anymore.
I'm off to the bank now to see if I can set up another account.
Bye everybody. Thanks to all who replied, much appreciated:T0 -
Hi Everyone
To cut a very very long story short (I won't bore you with all the details) my ex wants me to come out of the CSA and he will give me more money for our children if I do. I know this is suspicious but i'm not really posting for people's opinions on this:o (hope that doesn't sound offensive!).
He's asked for my bank account details so he can set up a direct debit. Should I open another account just for his maintenance or I am OK to give him the sort code and account number for my account? Could he do anything (ie, something not nice:rolleyes:) with my bank account details?
May sound a daft question but I'm not entirely 100%.
Thanks for any help

I have an account that I just use for internet purchases, I have given an ex that account to put money in. Hopefully he will be reliable and put the money in every month!0
