Tax credits and temporary job?

Hi,
Quick query if anybody knows (if not, I'll just wait and see
)
I'm very hopeful of getting a well-paid job that is a 6 month contract. I'd be paid £9k before tax over those 6 months.
Now, considering financial years etc, and I have been unemployed this tax year, would I be eligible for tax credits? If so, would they calculate things based on the annual salary (£18k so probably to much to be eligible?) or the salary that I will receive (£9k)?
If anyone has been in this situation I'd be grateful to hear - just so I can get my head around things.

As your contract will last for more than 4 consecutive weeks then you may be able to claim WTC -You would need to be working more than 30 hours a week and over the age of 25 if you had no children or were not disabled. They would base your provisional tax credits on your income for the 08/09 tax year - If, however, your income in this current year is less they can quickly recalculate on your CY income.0

Though I should have added, as Sarahkins has pointed out, that your award will be based on your actual earnings of 9K, rather than the 18K in your post.0

That's great, thank you very much!
(Yes it would be full time, I am over 25, so definitely worth a shot... all I have to do now is land the job!
