Depends on what you want. Clearspring is good, available from many places, Waitrose do quite a few own label things too.
Other than that, Wing Yip or any Oriental supermarket.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Now is really not a good time to be buying Japanese - their money was invested conservatively, so has not gone down like everyone else in the world - Japanese food is going to be really expensive wherever you buy it. I would suggest buying Japanes-y food - i.e. American sushi rice, Japanese style soy sauce from China etc.0 -
JapanCentre really is the best. Wing Yip or another local oriental supermarket might be slightly cheaper, but the variety is usually poor - those usually tend to be Chinese-focused and while there is some crossover, you won't get the same diversity & range of products that Japan Centre offer. That said, I've gotten umeboshi puree (Clearspring brand) from Sainsbury's that is way cheaper than Japan Centre and it's scrummy!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne
would like to win a holiday, please!!

I've never found anywhere better or cheaper than the Japan Centre; they get regular orders from me as I got converted to a mainly Japanese diet some time ago, I also have an Oriental Supermarket about 10 minutes walk away (lucky me!) which I use for oddments but to be honest price wise it's cheaper to buy on line.0
