i am about to throw it out the window. i have just spent an hr disconnecting and reconnecting (i am on unlimited dial up) and it was only connecting between 20 and 34 kbps (normal is 45.2) also it cut out on me twice after 10 mins which never happens. the last time anything like this happened was about 6 months ago where i had a month of having to reconnect all the time as it kept connecting btween 20 and 35. ive done a virus and a spyware scan (i never get either as i only go on about 4 trusted sites anyway) and it was all clear. i do seem to be getting more fake virus emails than usual though (i always delete straight away, had these for months on end anyway), any idea whats wrong? also theres a few processes in task manager that i dont recognise but im sure they are ok as i know i dont have any viruses, i have avast and it has always worked perfectly for me.

As Electron says Most likely you ISP Give them a bell as BT are doing a lot of work all over the country upgrading exchanges to BT max you never know what they have done,
Your ISP should beable to tell you if not, go to bt and ask for a line check0 -
im 100% certain i havent got a rogue dialler as i never go on any sites apart from 4 or 5 trusted ones and i never open any emails unless i know who they are from. out of interest, how would you know if you did have a fake dial thing? ive just put the comp on now and it went to 45.2 straight away, and hasnt diconnected yet so seems like it must have been bt or the line. i havent got broadband as i am happy with my isp and they are a good company (i have quite a few things with them and cust service is excellent) i dont want a contract, basically i just cant be bothered!Fr. you know the box you get when you dial up to the internet. it says dialling (then the number) well its correct or can a rogue dialler change this too?
