Who cares about a little oil around (oil and sand makes a good golf course), H2S, smoke and a little non strict adherence to all the codes. Far easier to ship 1 product,oil, than numerous other refined products to these shores.
As for easy and fool proof,all depends on the process,as for the wages,worth every penny,lol.

Not entirely correct, there are oil production facilities in the UK as well as refineries, but I agree I do charactise a little bit. I do think that the undoubted industrial power of oil production workers is increasingly distorting their pay from what is a reasonable wage for the job. There is a long way to go I guess but ultimately there will be a bust up of some kind, production going overseas, automation, I don't know what)

I've made my views on journalism clear in the last few days, but even the very lowest intellectual bar is well out of reach of the Daily Express's crew of sensation seeking wannabee fosbury flopsters.

Bills won't be £5000 in 5 years. It is SCAREMONGERING.

But say the price of energy did rise. Ask yourself what would actually happen. Would people spend their entire disposable income and more on energy or would they just possibly change the way they behave?
