Laptop Advice,

I am looking to purchase a laptop and my budget is £400 max. It would be for uni work and then for use between home and school when I graduate as a primary teacher next year.

I have been told to go for at least 2gb RAM and 250hard drive, so that I can run various applications at once. In terms of storage I would be using it for my itunes library and photos, along with the usual documents etc (dont really download videos or anything that takes up a lot of space).

Basically I wondered if anyone could recommend a good laptop for me! and what do you think about this one;

    It will be heavy I'd wager.

    Personally I'd look for a better processor and go with a gig less of RAM
    It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

    The CPU is a bit Pap in there and the GMA4500 graphics is to be honest poo also it's passed off as an HD+ screen but it has a peculiar resolution and there is only a DVD drive no Blu-ray

    Remember that machine weighs more than 3 bags of sugar do you really want to carry that around with you or is it mostly going to be sitting on a desk?

    If you are happy with a smaller screen i'd get a smaller screen with better video and cpu

    If you are going to buy from EBuyer, then google them and read the reviews. You will not be happy. I would personally avoid them at all costs. Seems it's a total lottery if you actually get what you ordered in one piece.
    I would personally advise to buy one from Amazon, i bought my Acer gemstone laptop from them, they were superb as usual. Never had a problem with them and ive spent thousands with them over the years.

    Check this one out

    A bargain at £350, and with £50 saved upgrade to Vista premium, but Vista Basic would be fine for what you need it for. You could always get Windows 7 also.

    Won't find a better laptop for that spec.

    Edit: Please don't buy any Laptop made by fujitsu siemens, they are awful and will break down in less than a year like my past TWO did. Awful company.

    I used to spend £5000 / month with them over about a 2 year period when I worked for myself, found them to be extremely reliable and have excellent CS. Had the odd problem now and again, mainly caused by City Link and not ebuyers fault, and the few times they did !!!! things up they swiftly put it right.

    If you believe everything you read, then avoid acer, apple, asus, dell, fujitsu, HP, IBM / Lenovo, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba.
