i use white vinegar and water half half mix in an old spray bottle with a bit of essential oil in. its antibacterial, use on everything from kitchen surfaces to potties. very cheap. the chinese supermarkets sell great vats of it at very cheap prices, green and moneysaving. im astmatic and find lots of anti bac stuff ect kills ma lungs.Jan 2015 GC £267/£260

The greenest kitchen is one that doesn't exist at all - knock the whole kitchen down and live off takeaways (don't for get to go the the takeaway by sustainable means and recycle the packaging).

I don't see the problem with conventional hobs and ovens etc. They might let some heat escape into the room but at least you are heating your house up so that energy doesn't go to waste (in the colder months at least).
As for the idea of cooking everything in the microwave I think its stupid. Microwaved food is pretty horrible at the best of times - its best to use conventional methods IMHO.0 -

I agree that when it's cold, the heat produced helps warm your house.
Microwaves are a far more efficient way of cooking though, some people use them to do the bulk of the cooking process, then finish the food off in a conventional oven to 'brown' it.0 -

We always leave the oven door open after we have finished cooking so that the heat escapes into the kitchen to help warm it rather than let it be wasted.
