Are EDF trying it on?

I had a phone call this morning from EDF. They wanted an up to date meter reading for our gas. I explained that we have not been with them for almost a year and we are now with EON.

Then she said that they had had a billing system error and they should have been sending us bills so need an up to date reading. I explained again that we were not with EDF and she then said that it was for a final bill. I asked her why they would be sending us a bill almost 1 year after we had left EDF and how would an up to date meter reading be relevant. She kept saying that it was because of this system error from a year ago??? Apparently their systems have not been working this long??

It all sounded a bit dodgy to me, I seem to remember paying our final bill and we have certainly had not other correspondance from EDF in almost a year so why are they calling? I advised the lady that she should deal with EON and refused to give a reading but now I am worried I am going to get a massive bill. Has anyone else had these phone calls from EDF?

    Hi ms.prong, :hello:

    Do you remember ever paying a final bill for EDF around the time you transferred to E.ON? :think:

    If not there may have been a problem that stopped them billing you correctly, alternatively if you received a final bill it may have been incorrectly estimated.

    This is a while to wait for a final bill so I’d expect EDF to offer you a payment arrangement at the very least. ;)

    Check the first E.ON bill you got and see if the opening/start readings are accurate, these should match up with final readings on a final bill from EDF.

    For peace of mind you may want to contact E.ON and check that they still are supplying you, and that this isn’t due to some other issue.

    Thanks for your reply Brian. I think perhaps I had better give Eon a call, although I am certain they are still billing me as I only received my bill the other day.
