I'm a new poster on this forum so forgive me for asking questions that are probably answered somewhere but I've had a quick look but not luck. I'm looking for some kind of guideline for the expected energy comsumption of a 5 bedroom s/d house with a gas combi boiler & gas hob, 4 people, lots of electrial gadgets (laptop, flat screen tvs, games consoles, cordless phones, chargers galore, tumble dryer :o etc)? I know everyones house if different but I was hoping there was an online gadget that you could enter your info in and it would give you a ball park figure. I feel our energy consumption is too high but not really sure how we could cut it.

I've been tracking our energy consumption for the last 7 quarters and we definatly have a pattern forming but I still think its too high & too expensive!
See for yourselves!

As you say, it's impossible to come up with averages because there are so many variables, and really it comes down to how much you can afford and are prepared to pay. Over the last year or two, I've been monitoring our consumption and have made cutbacks. We are still high users because we like the house warm in the winter and we have four children 15+ at home, all gadget fiends. We use gas for heating and cooking and hot water for six. Our house is mid terrace but poorly insulated (Victorian), three beds with converted cellar so on three floors with cold single skin extension.

Elec - average 13kwh a day summer, 15kwh winter - annual just under 5000kwh now
    Gas - average 25kwh a day summer and 100kwh a day winter - annual 24,000kwh
