Moorcroft Debt Recovery

Hello All :money:

Im new to this so please be gentle:o....well i say new to this but i actually mean new as in taking responibility for what ive got myself into.......so any help would be highly appreciated.

Well here goes....

Had an argos Card and did not settle the amount with them (stupid i know) and now its been passed to the wounderful company that is Moorcroft

Firstly they contacted me saying they required that the amount be cleared and at the time i was skint and could not make a payment until payday. I told them i would hope to clear the amount when i was paid with help from my g/f who was going to pay half (the total amount is £450)

Anyway when payday arrived my g/f told me she could not pay this month and after i had paid all my other bills the remaining money dwindled...(not wasted) away (stupid mistake i know and not an excuse) .........so when i spoke to Moorcroft and told them my situation and advised them that i could not pay the previously agreed amount .....they were not happy!

I told them i could pay £20 this month which they said was unacceptable and would incurr default charges! They told me the minimum i had to pay was £100.00! I told them i could not pay that amount as i didnt have the money and i was put on hold.....they came back and said they would accept £70.00! I repated that i can only offer £20.00 this month and was again put on hold only for the guy to come back again to tell me they would accept £50.00! This annoyed me as they originally said they would only accept £100 MINIMUM........so i think it shows that were trying to deceive me into paying an unreasonable amount.

I want to pay £100 per month and i think this is reasonable so why are they telling me i have to pay the full amount?

In my last contact with them I told them i was willing to pay a big chunk of the debt the when i was next paid and have since received a letter from them stating the following

I have defaulted on my agreement (agreement over phone saying id clear the debt)

As a result it has now been passed to the home collections dept.....saying that they would seek to establish how i would settle the debt.

They also said if i wish to continue paying direct to their office then i need to pay the full amount of the arrears (£450) no later that 10:00am on 22/06/09..............DESPITE KNOWING I DONT GET PAID UNTIL 27TH!

How should i deal with them?

Any help would greatly apprecited

Tks
Mark

First off better dealing with idiots like these by letter, so you have proof of whats going on.

if you can only pay 20 then thats it, they will winge and moan but are really not able to do much more.

Send the payment off , tell them how you propose to pay it off over the next few months or however you want to do it, include that you will only deal with by letter and if they continue to hassle you by phone, you will report them as they are not allowed to do that.
tell them in the letter you will not accept home visits, so they are not welcome to send someone round ,it will again be treated as harrassment.
tell them that you are trying to be reasonable and realistic in your proposal and they should accept it .

    cheers

    Hi Peter

I have a good amount of experience dealing with Moorcrap. They are bullies. Deal with them ONLY BY LETTER. Post them an income/expenditure decalration BY RECORDED DELIVERY.

Tell them you can only pay £20 per month and no more. DO NOT RING THEM. LETTER ONLY. Doorstep collector will not call if you tell them you do not wish themto visit you. There is a thread about this on here.

PM me if you want more help with Moorcrap.

Also, have a look at this website for the Moorcrap collector jobs going.

    :mad:confused:PLEASE HELP AGAIN!!!

I sent this post (below) back in April 2008, we have now received a letter from MeritForce which apparently is a part of
    Mackenzie Hall...

Can someone help, they are requesting the same amount - £421.39??

We did call them and they were very rude and hung up on us!!

Does anyone know what we should do now, do we send them a letter requesting more information or requesting a CCA?

    Please help...

    PLEASE HELP!

    Hi,

My partner received a letter 'Notice of Legal Proceedings' on 24th Oct 2003 for debt due (£421.39), we didn't know what it was for, but paid a proportion of it £150 (as agreed with Robinson Way & Co on behalf of Singlepoint 4U) it as we had a contract phone (thought it was that)!

Thought that was the end of it. Then received another letter - 27th January 2006 from Red Castle Recoveries Ltd from the same Client (Singlepoint 4U) requesting another smaller amount (£129.30). Paid this amount online!!

Another letter sent from someone else (
Mackenzie Hall Ltd) on behalf of the same client for £421.39 requesting payment otherwise legal action will be taken, contacted them and requested proof - still nothing.

Another letter sent 30th March 2008 from ScotCall Debt on behalf of the same client for £421.39 requesting payment otherwise doorstep collection which could be this Monday. Now we're worried, as we don't have the money and we don't know what it's for?? Could I do anything to stop it, maybe phone them and threaten legal action!!!

I've heard that if you accept the payment you have to pay, or is there something about 'Statute Barred' that I could use???

    Please could someone help!!

    Thanks for letting me ramble...
