New house, bills say occupants, cashback for changing suppliers
Daughters moved into a property last week and the gas and elec bills just say occupants at the moment. She wants to try and take advantage of cashback via quidco if possible for swapping suppliers will this be possible as her name isnt yet on the bills or should she call scottish power now and get her name on the bills first before switching? was just worried in case this might tie her into a 12 month contract with scottish power
When she does switch she still does not want to be tied into a 12 month contract as she may not be there for that long
They are offering £70 cashback through quidco for eon and its coming out the cheapest anyway througn uswitch

No, she does not need her name on the bills first. But she should still contact Scottish Power to change to their cheapest direct debit tariff (as she will have been put on their more expensive 'standard' tariff). It will take six to eight weeks for her to change to a new supplier so it is worthwhile.
Most domestic contracts are still just one month. (Some capped or fixed tariffs have penalties, though, and E-on will charge you an extra 13.5% or more on your final bill.)0 -
She should call Scottish Power now giving the date she moved in and if available the meter readings at the time she moved in.
She is a deemed customer of Scottish Power from the moment she first used their supply.
When she rings them giving her name, she will have a new account set up in her name. Then the bills will be in her name
She can then switch supplier, but remember she will have to pay for all consumption from the time she moved in until the supplier is actuall changed, which will be at least 4 weeks from application.
Don't worry, she will not be tied into any contract (unless she opts for a capped rate, fixed rate, etc)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Daughter rang scottish power and they have put her name on both gas and electric accounts, they have put her down for monthly direct debit but not told her how much it will actually be.
She asked them to put her on the lowest tarrif for both and they said she was already on the lowest tarrif but didnt say what it was.
We assumed she was on economy 7 as the electric meter has 2 readings but she was told when she rang that it is not ecomomy 7 that it is what they called a 2 rate meter and to change this to ordinary electric it would cost her £48. To me its just the same as economy 7 but a different name. My daughhter did not think that economy 7 or anything similar would benefit her though because shes not going to be using enough elec overnight to justify the higher charges for elec during the day
I realised though they didnt say anything about her gas and that cant be on a 2 rate meter but they didnt say she could change that.
Is it normal to have to swap from economy 7 or 2 rate meter to ordinary meter?Thanx
