Fair Quote for gutters, fascias, soffitts?

Options
Having gutters, fascias and sofftits removed from house, want replacement in white, nothing fancy. There is approx. 25m-30m to be replaced

Three quotes:
1 - £1900
2 - £1100
3 - £995

and having a 4th and final quote tonight.

I can only assume the £1900 didn't want the job

Can anyone tell me what is a reasonable price for this? Thanks in advance.

(I tried haggling but it didn't work!)

£1300 - £1600 would be an average price for full replacement.

Cheers for that Markie. The fourth price was £1800 after her "15% discount"

What worries me now is why are £1100 and £995 so cheap?

They are taking off all cladding, replacing all fascias, soffitts and gutters, they are vented.

Anything else I need to watch out for? :A

It might be worth just checking they are using thick enough boards, will be removing all rubbish, replacing downpipes and are fully insured.
But it may just be that they are a small company without many overheads and could do with the work at the moment.

thanks for the info, they are definitely taking the rubbish away, we have no downpipes which is great, and he showed us a sample of the work which looks good. Friends have had their house fronts covered in uPVC by the same company and were happy, haven't seen their guttering work though.

They said they use something like Evesham/Everite (cant remember the name) systems on the gutters which OH said looked good, but I had no idea. The expensive woman said they used circular vents which were the best apparently? Argh, hate making descisions!! The £995 sounded like a good credit crunch offer! They could also move the soil waste pipe and do the roof work for £120 max. which didn't sound too bad either.

    Thanks savemoney :)

Thanks for the reply andrew :)

Eaves protectors thats the one. They didn't use felt, they used something else though... need to ring them back again I think!

My favourite ones were the £995 people. I'm usually wary of cheap deals too. He had 15 yr warranty, insurance backed guarantee and a colour face guarantee too. I think that was the ventilation he mentioned that you said there andrew_b.

The £1100 was a 'mate rate' so I would trust that he would do a good job.

Told Mr £995, we'd had a cheaper quote to haggle but he wasn't having it. :( Might ring him back to get a few more details now I understand things a bit better. Thank god for people on MSE :D

So he gave you a good price. It was £1000 cheaper than the most expensive quote. And then you ring him up to haggle with him?

    Be fair.

To be fair though the other quote I had had was £1100, so had I got a 4th price it may have been lower. Haggling is always done so I was being fair.
