I toast mine anyway so it really dosen't matter if they are dry to start with.
If you really can't eat them fresh but stale TOAST THEM. Then don't buy them again.0 -
They were toasted, and fell to almost dust crumbs under the minor pressure of buttering !in sell by date and not over done.I'm going to try and make some instead anyway, might go a little over indulgant and add mixed peel, almonds and cherries aswell mmmm.0

I agree, and they're on special at the moment (2 for 99p)
Haven't had any problems toasting or buttering them either.0 -
I think that the tesco ones are baked at store? So wouldn't every place be different?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

There is a coupon for free Hot cross buns from Budgens in the Daily Express today and the coupon is valid until the 10th of April.

The Tescos one's that are prepacked and have a cardboard insert (like the Healthy Living ones) are fine - its the instore bakery ones that are horrible - in the clear packets. Yuk Yuk Yuk. Shame on them. They have been like that for years - you would have thought they'd use a different recipe. Everyone I knows hates the ISB ones.0

Don't s'pose you could ask him what the flipping deal is with the bagels could you? Some days you only get multigrain and onion (so I simply go elsewhere for my shopping), others you get the yummy cinnamon and raisin ones, others its sesame-tastic. No rhyme or reason. This is at quite a few stores, so it's not just a one off.
Maybe one day I'll just ask someone who works there...0 -
The Times did a taste test of supermarket Hot X Buns last weekend and Sainsburys Taste the Difference and M&S Luxury came out best. Worst were Somerfield, Tesco were in the middle.

It's hard to beat ones from a good bakery though (if you are still lucky enough to have one near you) - go on treat yourself (it's Easter) and support your local baker rather than buying the mass produced supermarket stuff....."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."
