Hi

I just got my skytv and would like to take up skytalk and their broadband again. I only want to pay BT for line rental now, coming off their call package after being with them for 25+ years will there be a charge?

But note that if you currently have Option 2 (bundled evening calls) rather than the basic weekends-only package then you may have surreptitiously been slipped on to a rolling twelve month contract.

Sky Talk will require you to take a 12 month contract.

Also you can pay sky for your line rental, i thinks its about £1/£1.50 a month cheaper and then you only get one bill. If you ring Sky up they will haggle and possibly get line rental half price for 6/12 months if youre taking the package.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    Only 50p from 1 September 2009.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Thanks for your help and advice.
0845 are chargable on sky oh no, i mean i use saynoto0870 but my mum can't bebothered.

But by going on to skytalk you get sky broadband £5 cheaper, so i think i'll still use sky talk.

    Edit:
Reading that the post form that link to skyuser forum, their midbroadband is now 10gb a month down from 40gb allowance.

This is not proving to be that much of a better move.

Indeed. Specially if you take into account Sky's charges for such calls:
Calls to 0845 numbers 6p/min AT ALL TIMES.

Calls to most 0870 numbers 10p/min in the daytime and 8p/min in the evening, seven days a week.
Which, when compared with the prices you can make those calls for, really are a rip-off.
