JSA after voluntarily leaving job

I finished university a couple of months ago and am now wanting to claim JSA because I can't find a job (despite applying to loads!). I have a part time job at uni, where I work on a casual basis between 0-12 hours a week (I usually do about 6 hours), but I've handed my notice in because I have to move out of my student accomodation in a couple of weeks, and will have to move down to stay with friends in the part of the country I'm from (I don't know anyone here now everyone else from uni has left). Will the fact that I have voluntarily quit my job mean I'm unable to get jobseekers allowance? The hours were unreliable anyway, and nowhere near enough to live on, which was fine when I was getting a student loan, but no use now. I really need the JSA, because I will also need to claim local housing allowance when I find somewhere to live.
Does anyone know? Thanks.

Maybe worth gettin an appoitemnt at the local CAb befoe you leave the accomodation. Sorry best i can advise at moment.:o"Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

It is possible you would have 2 to 26 week sanction for leaving the job voluntarily if you cannot show good cause. What you have said here sounds reasonable to me but it would be best as mentioned above to seek advice.
If you do not receive JSA you can still claim LHA if you have a low or no income.0 -
Okay thanks, I will email the CAB I guess. I've put in a claim for JSA anyway, as I'm entitled to at least some of it for working less than 16 hours a week (I worked out I actually only average 4pw), but it seems silly that I could lose the entitlement if I quit this, when the alternative is commuting 150 miles each way for a 4 hour shift (the cost of fuel would not be half covered by the wages). I have found a couple of landlords willing to let to tenants on LHA, but I don't know how I'd afford to live if I wasn't getting JSA. How would I pay for food and bills? I've always worked before going to uni and paid my own rent, so I'm really not at all sure about benefits and appreciate any help.0
