Light fingered father using childs trust fund money

  • dmg you are way off the mark. i mentioned his car because it was bought just after he has received the trust payments from the kids. I know from previous experience, before our daughter was born, that his son who is now 12 had previous payouts and he and his ex wife (she was the driving force behind that) had saved the money in an account for him. After they divorced she committed suicide as soon as she was dead he spent his son´s money. He had approx 8000, now theres nothing.

I want my daughter to get what is rightfully hers. In an account with a co signatry with another member of his family would be fine, but I know in my gut that he will be squandering her money until she is 18.

I just wondered if I could do anything legally.

I dont think this is the right place to seek such advice, there maybe other areas of MSE better suited, this forum is for benefits advice, perhaps you should consult a solicitor on this one.

A lawyer might tell you yes but I'm telling you no.

Your ex is either bad or suffering a personal crisis. If it is a crisis you should give him sympathy not lawyers letters. If he is bad, turn your back on him. One day he will discover how much he threw away for the sake of three thousand pounds. Also, what is better for your daughter? A dignified silence or a bitter and messy fight. Children don't like adults in dispute.
  • Go and see a solicitor and write to the trustees.
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)
