Barclays Bank query over when debits are applied

I should know the answer to this, and I'm a little embarrassed at having to ask... however:

I am expecting funds into my account at midnight tonight. I currently have a positive balance but can see from my records that not all of my spending has come out of my account yet. I am wondering if the fact that I have a positive balance now means nothing can go wrong before the funds arrive at midnight? Will/can debits be applied mid-day for example, or will any debits reaching the bank today not be debited until midnight? (I've made some card purchases over the weekend and am worried it might take me into a negative balance if they hit the account during the day, before the new funds arrive).

For anyone who may be interested in the answer - I've just been out and called into my local branch to ask the question. I was told that I should be ok, as generally debits go through all at once and since they are not showing today they probably won't show until tomorrow.

Debit card transactions should be debited from you available funds balance immediately. Sometimes, however, for smaller value transactions under the shop's floor limit don't get taken off the available funds balance straight away. They would go on to your statement in 3/4 working days. All debits are done around 1-1:30am.

Thanks. I could see there was an amount taken off my available balance, but it didn't match exactly with what I'd spent, so I was worried some other debits might come through as well. However, I've checked online today, and my funds are in (woohoo!) and the debits I was worried about have also been applied, so it's all gone pretty much to plan!

I think what was confusing me was that sometimes my online transaction record has changed mid-day, but looking back I think that was when I had paid a bill by cheque in the branch, so that updated onto my account a few hours later, not at midnight.
