Northern Bank Donegall Square Belfast - the ATM on the left.
  • Halifax donegal square also dispenses BoE, just check you are using the right one (there are two of them and I'm pretty sure there is a sign on the one that is BoE notes)
  • Hi in Derry (or Londonderry if you prefer!) you get them from the HSBC machine.

Isn't it the height of absurdity that in NI we accept English, Welsh and Scottish notes that equate to Sterling however our NI Sterling notes are not accepted in England, Wales or Scotland.

It's got better over the years. They used to hold the money up and look at it in amazement like it was a joke. Since the south got the euro I think they understand the money a bit better. Having been in England and Scotland this year didn't run about getting English notes I took our money and had no difficulty anywhere.

Just back fro m Southend England. We had taken about £160 between us all of which were Ulster bank £20 notes. However I was pleasantly surprised to find that the first three shops I presented them at took them without any bother. Even the self service till at Tesco took one. Not to push my luck I took remainder into Santander bank and they changed remaining notes into bank of England notes.
