oooooh love Michael McIntyre !! Hes sooooo funny, did you see him on Top Gear last night ?

Yea I've liked him for ages - well since the first time I saw him on telly anyway and have been meaning to book the tix but Top Gear reminded me! I love stand up comedy - I'd go see it every week if I had the money (and lived near a comedy club!).

Well done on all your wins, people...not had any yet this month!!

Now, trying to think of ways to find out if this guy is single...shame he does not have a Facebook or Myspace page.
  • I need your opinion on quite a sensitive subject please.

As you know it's LO's birthday party during the summer holidays & with us hiring a huge hall I'm inviting lots of kids to make it really special & it's fancy dress. I was asking LO which friends she wants to come, she does a lot of groups/courses with me so has a lot of friends from various places. We did a group a few months ago just for 6 weeks & she got friendly with a little boy there & I spoke briefly to his Mum. I found out this little boys sister goes to Brownies with my other DD so thought I'd invite both of the children. The Mum looked ill but I didn't know what was wrong & with us only being there for a short time we didn't really get chance to talk IYSWIM. Now this morning I've been to a meeting run through Sure Start & LO was saying she was going to invite this boy to her party, one of the ladies came over to me & told me the Mum passed away this weekend from a brain tumour, when I saw her last a few months ago she had then been given around 9-12 weeks to live :( I find so awful as I genuinely didn't know she was that ill.

I'm going to explain to eldest DD (she's nearly 10) later what has happened but do I still invite the children or not? Today is the last chance to give them the invite as I don't know where they live or know anyone who knows them to give it to them later. I don't even know if the daughter will be at Brownies tonight or not.

Also I was thinking now of taking a card for the family, I know sometimes it's the kids aunt who picks her up so if I saw her tonight could give it to her. Would that seem to personal with not knowing them?

Sorry if none of this makes sense, I'm still in shock from it all. She's left behind 2 wonderful children the boy is only 2 or 3, it seems so wrong.

So sad pms. xxxx The poor woman, and her family. xxxx

Re the card I say yes. I think that would be nice and I'm sure the family would appreciate it. Knowing loved ones touched other people is nice.

Re the party my instinct says yes, invite them. It might be nice for them to be invited to something. Even if they don't/can't come.

PMS - Thats really sad. I agree with Splodz. A card would be nice as it lets them know you are thinking of them in the difficult time. I would definitely invite them as well. They can then decide what is best for them.

Munchkim - hope all is ok!
    Keep thinking positively

pms, I was youngish (11) when I lost my dad and everyone around us tried to make it as normal as possible for me and my brother and it helped us a lot. Things like this party will give them a bit of normal in their lives as they may not understand fully whats going on yet so maybe give the person who collects them the invite so they have the choice about what they want to do. The card idea is a nice touch as well, we had a lot from people we only knew breifly too but it all helped to know there were people around who understood.

    Sorry for waffling :)
