Just this holiday thing, and people letting me down. Ihave just had enough, am really fed up. Hate bein skint, it's such a struggle, and to watch her living it up while we're livin off hotdogs is just too much. It's proper upsetting me. I am trying not to get stressed but it's just not that easy.

I dunno what to do at all. Cos I dont want to leave it now!
it's not worth getting all eaten up over what she has and u havent, u need to focus on improving ur own situation, i dont understand how u r on cheap hot dogs as food, but surely kids cant get their normal nutrients etc from that stuff, can u not go to the social to get help? ebay something?
\If it was u that cancelled the holiday and they had to pay a supplement i dont get how they owe u anything.
Im nto being harsh just trying to practically help u move ur mind away from worrying about what she has, when that doesnt help ur situation.

  • I don't want the kids to do without a party, usually with the party/cake/party bags it can cost around £100-£150 which I need to save this year for Florida. We're getting the hall for free so trying to keep all costs down, hope it doesn't look like I'm being 'cheap' though LOL

DD has a small pink stereo so was going to take that, she's also got a disco ball thing if I can get that to work as well, possibly a bubble machine if we can get outside for a bit (don't want to be mopping up spilt bubble mixture inside LOL)

Have you thought about doing a bring your own party? I went to one recently and it worked really well. Each family brought a favourite party food, favourite CD and favourite toy (to be returned).

The kids had a ball with it! It was on a tight budget, so they also had a competition for most creative use of a cardboard box - the winner was a five year old who made a rather spiffing plane. Kept them all busy while we had a drop of wine too!
Best wins: Luxury weekend in Russia, family holiday to France, catered BBQ for 20, Selfridges shopping spree, jolly to Majorca, £1,000 See Tickets vouchers, £500 John Lewis vouchers, five-star weekend in Provence!
