From a legal point of view, she will have more automatic entitlements as a wife than as a partner. However she will also have more liability placed on her as a wife than as a partner. Your mum needs to consider the whole picture, not just the bits that will place her in a better position. There is a lot to consider, which no one person can advise you fully on.
