If your parents let the house to you on a normal commercial tenancy (which you've implied is the case as you've been thinking of claiming LHA for it) then they can't just ask you to leave. It depends on how much longer there's left on your tenancy agreement and then the whole process takes a while after that. There's also the question of how long it's taking to sell houses these days.

I wouldn't panic yet, you'll have quite a while before you could be evicted.

Have a look at the Shelter website as they have a section on housing benefit as it relates to rentals between relatives, the definition of a contrived tenancy and how to appeal against a rejected HB claim.

Excellent post. They cant just ask you to leave and my sister still hasnt sold her house after a year. I know its easy for me to say but try not to worry because when you worry it solves nothing. try to think about what options you have in case your parents sell their house.
