B & Q Wenge laminate worktop

A year ago I bought wenge laminate worktop from B & Q and have had problems with it marking.

If you stand set pots on the side ready to was up - they leave marks and the marks do not come off.

I've tried complaining to B & Q, and they just tried to get out of it. Really dragged their heels aswell.

The woman from B & Q that came to look at it even put in a letter that the worktops were wiped down with dishwater!!! The kitchen was spotless when she came round.

I involved trading standards and we got a bit further, the manufacturer said they would have independant testing done on the worktop, if I sent some over. I haven't got any spare worktop so that would mean cutting some off. I was warned the testing could be destructive and if at the end of testing they decided it was up to standard, then I would be left with a bit of worktop missing. The manufacturer wouldn't come out and look at it, saying they were too busy.

I don't know what to do anymore, I bought laminate because it's supposed to be hardwearing but this is ridiculous and it just looks worse as time goes on.

Has anyone else had this worktop?

Sorry to hear you aren't happy with your worktop.

As it's already a year or more old, and well used, I shouldn't think there's much more you can do. It sounds like B&Q and the manufacturer have actually been quite fair.

Laminates are notorious for marking and you might be better in the long run to replace your worktops with a better quality laminate, or timber. Wood doesn't have to be an expensive option. Find a good, local, independant retailer, and they MIGHT be able to do you wood cheaper than laminate, depending on their connections.

As for washing down your worktops with dishwasher.....erm....isn't that what most of us do? MY kitchen is spotless, but 9/10 it's a wipe down with a damp dishcloth that does it! Would you be shocked if I told you that every other night, that same dish cloth is then use to wipe the floor before being chucked in the washing machine?!

Good luck though. What is it you think B&Q / the manufacturer SHOULD be doing for you?

Could you not get, a sample of the laminate to send off to be tested? Worry there is though that it might have improved in a year? Not sure how to advise, sorry and good luck.
    I love surprises!
