From what I've heard - no they arn't very good & also not very good customer service but I've never actually owned one.

you may be better off with a dell which are in the same sort of price range, I just brought my mom one for under 300 quid which was a decent spec & included the monitor.

How much were you looking to spend?

    worto.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Someone I know is considering either a Mesh or a Dell. I mentioned Dell but he is looking set on a Mesh one. His budget is around £700 for a basic set up.

o.k. im doin a degree in networking at uni been studying computer since school so have very good IT knowlege.

i normally custom build my computers, but i bought my nephew a computer from Dell because of there good price, but i can honestly say it was total rubbish i wont recommend them to anyone. they way the computer is setup is not good at all you can choose what you would like in the PC, theydont give drivers on cd instead they will have a recovery cd which will install the windows and drivers inc all the addtional dell stuff. and the pc performance is very slow.

my mate recently wanted to buy a PC, he told me the price and asked me what he could get, i told him the key areas for focus on when buying a pc so it could last him, he went away and got me a list of PC from different suppliers (dell was not even on the list due to build of the pc) anyway cut long story short ended up going to mesh computers. they always use high quality parts and are quality build PC's, his brother in law bought a pc from them before and say's the customer service is very good.

now i setted up his pc, i can say honestly its pure quality.

another thing is go for an AMD processor, much better than Intel trust me you wont go back and is cheaper.

    another good company is:

Not forgetting a restore CD is a lot quicker as it uses ghost technology and dont worry about all the Dell stuff being loaded up aswell as that can easily be removed from add/remove programs and set program access and defaults.
  • From personal experience only - I bought a mesh three years ago, and had it made to my own spec at the time (I wasn't yet ready to take the plunge and build my own). The pc has been great. The one problem that it did have with the hard drive was resolved very very quickly- the guy on the phone at after sales seemed to know what he was talking about, and arranged to have the pc returned immediately (his idea being that if it wasn't the hard drive, at least I wouldn't waste further time sending other components back and forth) the pc was collected and returned with new hard drive in a short time.

I bought a Mesh pc, built to my spec 5 years ago. It's been brilliant - and trouble free. The only problem is that now as I only use my laptop, I've got to get rid - it's still working perfectly, and the MSE in me can't let it go, so it sits in the corner of my office doing nothing! :o

I am on my second Mesh - 1st one is still going, 5 years old now but has been very easy to upgrade few bits (memory/hdd/graphics) to extend the life.

Bought new one last Autumn and very pleased again.

Always found their offers to be great value and they do use good quality parts and are standard specs so easy upgrade - 2 areas where Dell fall down big time. Though if you want a pc just for internet access and office apps dell will do the job.

Never had cause to call Mesh support - have seen people reporting it as not good but those with bad experiences always shout louder!

I've bought two computers from Mesh.
The first one I sold on, in full working order, after nearly three years to part fund my second purchase. The other is nearly six years old, and whilst it's not exactly 'cutting edge' technology, is still working fine - my self-employed brother uses it daily for work related tasks.

I've never had to contact Mesh for technical support. The sales dept. were helpful and knowledgeable.

Hmmm. Interesting question. My dad bought a Mesh several years ago - turned out they'd not put the fan on the CPU correctly so it died a death. Unfortunately he decided to have a poke round inside and the CPU shattered when he prodded it (?!) - when he told them they said that he "may" have to foot the bill himself as he'd fiddled with it so rather than take the chance, he ended up buying a new motherboard and chip himself. Apart from that it worked fine. His own daft fault partly - I'd told him the fan didn't sound right but he refused to do anything about it.

Anyway, I bought a Mesh computer for my husband in January - it was delivered on time and no problems with it so far (although they'd set the virtual memory wrong on it).

I also bought a Mesh computer for myself in February - have only just got it working correctly. Major problems with it, which turned out to be as a result of a faulty batch of graphics cards.

From my experience, I can say that the computers are high quality and the prices are good for what you get - but don't expect decent customer service if things go pear-shaped. There is a helpline - 0870 number - I never ever managed to get through without hanging on for at least 15 minutes (in one month spend £10 on phone calls to them). The technical support is very hit and miss - if you end up with a problem that they are aware of, and has been around for a while, they can fix it fairly quickly - if you don't then be prepared for a fight. And out of all the people I spoke to, I would say that only one was trying to help - the rest were just trying to fob me off and get me off the phone.

They also have an e-mail reporting system which is laughable - 50% of the time you get an automated reply back saying that you sent it to the wrong place (despite it being a form on their website), and the rest of the time you get a reply saying to expect a response within 3-5 working days.

The one light at the end of the tunnel is their forum - as far as I can tell there is ONE PERSON FOR THE ENTIRE MESH COMPANY who is helpful and who monitors the forum - he's the one that eventually got my problem solved.

    Choices, choices ....

Oh - I would also say, for a basic set-up, consider carefully the type of CPU - I went for a normal Pentium chip with my husbands and have had no problems. For mine I got a dual core processor - which does cause problems at the moment with some software, primarily games, although I've also come across a problem with Thunderbird e-mail as well (although there is a patch being worked on for that).

Bought my Mesh to replace a Tiny computer 18 months ago.
It worked straight out of the box and I've had no problems whatsoever, so I can't answer about their customer service because I've never had to contact them!
Even the online ordering was easy and it was delivered on time.

They are probably more expensive than Dell but seem to use quality parts. This computer is used every day by all the family so it gets a fair bit of use.Would I buy another Mesh - definately!
