Dad's car damaged when parked in street

Options
Hoping someone can help me here. My dads car was parked outside his house , the street is a two way street with cars parked both sides ,street lined with terraced housing. At the end of the street there is a car tyre centre. Dad went out to his car bumper hanging off, tyre damaged and windscreen broken. Turns out lorry delivering to tyre centre has managed to catch two cars and damage them while trying to delivery. My sister went round to garage and they said he said he thought he had caught two cars but that was all they would say.My dad only has third party insurance on his car. Who is liable to pay for the damge and has a crimal offence occurred with the driver not stopping and giving details. To cut it short my dad is a pensioner and is not going to be able to pay to get this fixed his self and so if this is the case he wil prob give up driving. Dont see why through no fault of his own he should have this problem. The street is far to narrow for these big trucks to be going down and my dad's car was parked correctly on the road within the marked bays available. Can we expect the tyre place to pay for the damage if the driver doesnt come forward, after all they new he had caught someone and didnt botter to contact my dad, who lives next door to it. So annoying can anyone help. thanks

How do you know the lorry hit your dads vehicle, were there any witnesses?

If the lorry is not owned by thge tyre company eg its owned by a seperate supplier then it is not the tyre companies fault

If it can be proved that the lorry driver was responsible, then the lorry driver (or his insurance) will pay out for the damage.

If it can't be proved, then your dad is responsible for the damage himself.

It is quite possible for a lorry driver to cause damage to another vehicle without knowing, simply because they are so large.

Did he not consider this before choosing to insure the car as third party only?

If two cars have been damaged at the same time get together with the other owner and get details from the car place- you need to know who owns the lorry as has been said...

Neighbour on the street said she had saw the lorry struggling up the street trying to get past, tyre company have said that he thought he had caught two cars, but didnt bother to check. tyre companyGave my sister the phone number of delivery company but they were closed sat afternoon she is going to ring again tomorrow. so no true witnesses as such. The lady up the road who's car was damaged my dad hasnt managed to speak to her yet to see what she is going to do.Thanks for the help but dont think the one saying cos of where they live he shouldnt have only had third party,. They have lived in the same street for over 45 years , they were actually there before the tyre company.just now there is more cars out and about on the streets and also bigger wagons doing the delivery. at least he is insured you dont expect your car to be damaged by someone else and they are not honest enough to say to you and offer to pay.

Do you have any idea of the approximate costs of the damage to your father's car
