hi and welcome to the boards. Have you done a Statement of Account to see where it's all going? well apart from the groceries :) isn't it amazing how much you find in the cupboards and freezer when you actually look.
  • Hi Lemon tree (Love that name)

I was really suprised at what i found but, also how stuck i had become with what meals we were eating, i had ended up doing about 5 different dinners on a loop and not looking at what else we could have using the ingretidents i had stock up which ment everybody was bored of those meals and again going to the supermarket/takeaway for "something different" mad when you think about it.

Just thought I'd add a bit,my sis does weight watchers, and since I got her hooked on here she doesn't have an overdraft, hers used to be about £1500, she's busy working on the credit card which is 0%, she was mainly wasting money on the shopping, so a lot can be acheived just by looking at what your spending there, and her biggest spend was bread and milk during the week, so she now has a chest freezer and she bulk buys them and freezes them, saves that £10 at the supermarket for bits. So good luck and every little step helps.

    Hi Curly,

Hope you don't mind me chipping in here, but I found this site:

    http://caloriecount.about.com/?utm_source=calorie-count.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=ccc_promo&utm_term=promo1

a good substitute for WW-type meal planning and weight-tracking, when I was paying attention to that kind of thing (:o not at the moment). It's totally free and not linked in to trying to make you do one or other kind of eating plan. The forums are pretty helpful, and kind of like this site in keeping you motivated and informed as you go along.

    Best of luck!

Just seen a post about another MSE getting a bicycle out after a few years. I don't know is it an option for you to fit some walking or cycling into your life - cycling instead of using the car would be very MSE, and if to the supermarket, would keep the shopping focused!!!!

Don't think that you can't do things because of your weight. It may be that cycling is not for you, fair enough, but it isn't that it's not for you now because you are too heavy. I read a very interesting article in Slimming World about this and you need to live your life bofore and during and after weightloss, not just see it as something that happens when you are thin.

Walking will be just as good though.

I can be a big one for the takeaways when there is no time to cook. Now I am not doing great on the weightloss, so treat these with caution but I found pasta with pesto sauce and some cheese - and sometimes some veggies - can be flung together very quickly and tastes yummy and also I microwave jacket potatoes for five mins and then oven cook for 20 mins. Both of these are at least cheaper than takeaways... and depending on the filling in the jacket could be suitable for the weightwatchers plan. Have you tried Slimming World? I say this as there is a very good support thread on here.

  • One giant leap for CC this morning, i had to get petrol, the cheapest place is the local Sainsburys. So got the car filled up went into the shop to pay and was met by a great display of cakes and other goodies all on special. I walked past quickly and didn't look at the montain of chocolate and sweets by the till and paid for the fuel with out spending a penny on food, really please.

My aim is to not buy any food until we get paid at the weekend.

With regard to finances i have looked into change to Gas & elctric just need to confirm that i havn't got to pay any tie in fee's befor i change that. Bank account look's ok still with in the overdraft, not too bad for the 24th of the month...

PEE tahnks for you food ideas, i have tried slimming world but found that i was doing different meals , the children didn't want what i was cooking and Oh didn't want what they or i had. Where as weight watcher allowes you to eat the same as they would be jusy smaller portions, portion control is another of my many weight loss floors,
worried jim Thank you for your kind post and advice.
