V5C worries after buying car from dealer
I bought a car from a dealer yesterday. Part exd my car also. He gave me the green new keeper supplement of the V5C/2 form and told me the full document would be sent in a few weeks, he also gave me a full year's tax disc and MOT.
Returning home, i thought something didn't sound right so i checked my husband's car logbook - it says the registered keeper and new keeper should sign the V5 form and the dealer should send it to DVLA. I did not sign the form, or even see it..
I phoned the dealer today, to tell him i didn't sign the form, he said i didn't need to and he had already sent it off when he got it taxed for me.
Does this sound right? It was many years ago i bought my last car and i can't remember. it seems to go against what the DVLA say on their website.

Quite often the dealer will send the form off on your behalf without you signing it. They shouldn't really but as long as they have filled your details out then you should get one in your name within 2-4 weeks. You have the green slip too, which means that if something did go wrong you can still apply for the V5C free of charge after the 4 weeks has passed.

Thanks for that. That's put my mind at ease a bit. So they shouldn't but as long as i have the green slip i'm alright? he had my details from the sales invoice, so knew full name, address etc. i'll just wait and see now, if and when the form turns up.:DThanks to all posters for your help!0

Correct.
After 4 weeks if you have not had the v5c in your name, ring DVLA to double check whether they have received it. If they haven't you will be asked to fill out form V62 and send with green slip for free of charge V5C.
