Toshiba Telly screen fault

HiIn May 2006 I bought a Toshiba 37" widescreen LCD Freeview telly. It has been great but has now developed a dark streak down one side of the screen. Can't get rid of it any way and it is there on broadcast and when I play DVD,
I paid over £1300 for it 3 years ago.
My question is, is 3 years a "reasonable amount of time" for this product to last?
