My Partner and I live in a 3 bed Flat with noi children
we never use the 2 spare bedrooms..
We use Gas for Heating, Water and Cooking both Oven and Hob..
We have Energy efficient bedside lamps..
All lights are off during the day and at the weekends
Yet our quarterly Electricity Bill is £300 or 700 units a month.. Is this excessive ?
Our supplier is EDF

Family of six, someone home all day, gas heating, cooking and hot water.
Mar/Apr/May = 1214kwh so roughly 404kwh a month
So yes, yours is high. We use dishwasher and washing machine every day. Dehumidifier every day. Low energy bulbs. TV and xbox on for several hours a day. Four laptops. Other TV and sky+ on every evening. Tumble drier rarely in summer but couple of hours a week March/April. Couple of hours ironing a week, stereo on most of day. Security light. Many phones, PSPs, ipods etc charging. Think that's it.0 -

WOW!!!1 So I am being ripped... turned off everything in the house and the meter is still slowly turning0 -
Think you need to investigate further.
Family of 4 in a 3 bed house. 250 units a month in the summer, 300 in the winter. We have all the electronic gadgets burning away, electric shower, washer on every day, tumble drier rarely. Someone home most of the time. Gas for heating, water heating and cooking.
We are careful, but not excessively so.0 -
Hi Grommit 137. If you really did turn everything off and the meter was still turning, it's likely that you have a power leak somewhere
This could be an appliance so pull out all the plugs and check the meter again - if it has stopped replace the plugs one at a time and check the meter for movement. If it's still turning with everything unplugged there is a wiring fault somewhere - have a local electrician put his meter across the fuses to find which circuit has a problem and have him fix it.0 -
